This week-long morning intensive is designed for students new to, or looking to return to, painting in acrylics or oils. Basic painting techniques, styles, and approaches will be addressed as we focus on the still life and landscape.

Supply List

Pick one Medium (Acrylic or Oil) not both

Acrylic Painting

pallet knife
roll of paper towels  
large paper pallet – freezer paper works great from grocery store  
plastic wrap
water container
"tuna" cans for medium
8 – 16X20, (Suggested size), canvas or board or Primed paper or primed watercolor paper   
masking tape
variety of brushes, no small brushes, #10 and up  
Acrylic retarder
Acrylic Matt Medium 


Needed colors: Cadmium red medium, Cadmium yellow medium, Ultramarine blue, Titanium white - all large tubes  

You can add other colors as well.  

Oil Painting:  

Bring #10 size brushes & larger no small brushes large paper pallet
roll of paper towels
pallet knife  
masking tape  
plastic wrap
metal paint cups
Canvas, or canvas board or primed loose canvas, same as above.  
Oil Painting Medium I use: 1) Artist’s professional grade Walnut Alkyd Medium or Gamblin's Solvent-Free Gel or liquid  

NO SOLVENTS, OR UNLABELED OIL MEDIUMS, INCLUDING LIQUIN ALLOWED  

 Needed colors: Cadmium red medium, Cadmium yellow medium, Ultramarine blue, Titanium white - all large tubes  

You can add other colors as well.
